Olive leaf extract inhibits growth of cancer cells


A study made in the Jordanian University of Science and Technology, that the conclusion of certain types of olive leaves have a high potential to inhibit cancer cell growth.

 
The results of the study through the Master student Mounir Malkawi prepared under the supervision of a committee of two professors from the university, and two in Applied Chemistry, Dr. Mohammad Zatar, and Dr. Firas Aala in pharmacy.

 
He's Malkawi (Petra) that his study showed that there are specific items of leaves olive proven its ability to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and specifically Rumi and Rumi atonement of Bani Kenana in particular, compared with 27 varieties of olives last.

 
He explained that the findings in the study showed the ability of leaves of these two types of inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, specifically cells derived from skin cancer, given where the concentrations and the effectiveness of high damping, and, God willing, will have the ability to heal wounds and sores that afflict patients with diabetes.
Director, Center for Princess Haya of research at the university who has experience in his lab, Dr. Ibrahim Mhidat professors supervisors of the letter stressed the importance of the discovery and preliminary results that have been in test tubes showed high ability to extract leaves of some varieties of olives on inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, specifically cells derived from skin cancer and it promising and encouraging in the treatment of cancer.

  
They noted that the analysis of the chemical components of olive leaf has shown excellent results and a high capacity to prevent oxidation.

  
They said they discussed as a team and after these promising results and the task they intend to do scientific experiments on animals to prove the safety and effectiveness of the medication, and then studying its effects on patients with clinically.
